Fetch + Releash

Fetch + Releash is a volunteer-run dog rescue in the Greater Toronto Area that matches dogs to loving families. Their dogs come from all over the world and include strays, surrendered pets, and dogs from pounds and high-kill shelters. Instead of having one physical shelter, they are a foster-based organization, which means the dogs live in private homes until they are adopted. Fetch + Releash has an in-depth interview process prior to adoption to ensure a good match, as they take the wellbeing of their dogs very seriously and recognize that dogs often end up in shelters due to families not being prepared for the realities of dog ownership.

If you are not ready for the lifetime commitment of adoption but still want to provide a dog with care and love, Fetch + Releash is a great organization to foster through. They take care of all expenses related to the care of the dog and pair you up with a Foster Coordinator to help you through the entire process. A dog typically needs foster care for only 4-6 weeks; however, this does vary.

If you are not ready for the responsibility of caring for a living creature but still want to contribute in a meaningful way, Fetch + Releash is a volunteer-run organization with plenty of volunteer positions available. These include Vetting Triage Coordinator, Adoption Phone Screener, Foster Coordinator, Foster Screener, Digital Adoption Assistant, Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator, Social Media "Story Teller", and more. There are plenty of ways for people of all professional backgrounds to help support this wonderful organization.
