The hidden bail on this circular 14k yellow gold sliding solitaire pendant with solidified ashes allows it to slide freely along its chain.
The 8mm sliding solitaire pendant is solid 14k yellow gold, but it is provided on a 14/20 yellow-gold-filled chain in the length of your choice from the options below. Information about matching solid 14k gold chains is available by request as well.
The back of this pendant can be engraved with up to 8 characters in a single line across its widest point; multiple lines of fewer characters may be able to be accommodated. Each piece is set in our office, located in Southern California. Only a very small amount of ashes is used in the setting process; the exact amount needed depends on the size and depth of the piece's setting, but for simplicity's sake, a teaspoon of ashes will suffice for most orders. The setting process solidifies the ashes and brings out their natural color, which may differ from those in the piece photographed. Within 1 business day of placing your order, you will receive a detailed order confirmation with information and instructions relevant to your unique order.

1. Choose your memorial piece
Select the jewelry you’d like and any add-ons, such as engraving or size/length options, then complete checkout.
2. Send a small amount of ashes
For orders of 1-5 pieces, we recommend sending 1 teaspoon (total) of ashes; for orders of 5+ pieces, we suggest sending 1 tablespoon. We'll send you a detailed email with step-by-step instructions on how to safely send the ashes (or mail your kit, if selected).
3. We handcraft your jewelry
Once your chosen piece arrives from our jeweler, the ashes setting is individually handcrafted here in our studio.
4. Receive your finished jewelry & remaining ashes
Your completed order is thoughtfully packaged with a jewelry box and care instructions. Any unused ashes are carefully returned to you.

Can I put the ashes in myself or have my local funeral home do it?
Our cremation jewelry is crafted using a patented process that solidifies the ashes and bonds them directly to the metal. Because of this unique method, our pieces must be completed in our studio and cannot be done at home or by a funeral home. This ensures your memorial jewelry is durable, long-lasting, and made exactly as intended.
Is the cremation pendant solid 14k yellow gold?
Yes! The cremation pendant itself (not including the chain) is solid 14k yellow gold.
Can I purchase this without the chain?
All of our 14k yellow gold pendants come with a complimentary 14/20 yellow gold-filled chain in the length of your choice (16", 18", or 20"). If you prefer not to receive the chain, we’re happy to leave it out upon request; however, the price will remain the same, as it is provided at no additional cost.
What's the difference between a 14/20 gold-filled chain and a gold-plated chain?
Gold-filled and gold-plated chains both have a layer of gold over a base metal, but the key difference is the thickness of the gold layer and how it’s applied.
14/20 gold-filled chains consist of a thick layer of 14k gold (at least 5% of the chain’s total weight) pressure-bonded to the base metal. Gold-plated chains, on the other hand, have a much thinner layer of gold electroplated onto the surface.
Because of this, gold-filled chains are more durable and long-lasting than gold-plated options, while still being more affordable than solid 14k gold. If you prefer, we’re always happy to provide options and pricing for solid 14k yellow gold chains upon request.
Is it okay to wear my cremation necklace in the shower, pool, or ocean?
We do not recommend wearing your cremation jewelry in the pool or ocean, as chlorine and saltwater can be damaging to the ashes setting and metal.
You may wear your piece in the shower, but keep in mind the minerals and chemicals present in many skincare products can discolor or mattify the ashes setting. While it's best to remove your cremation jewelry before showering, if you do choose to leave it on, we recommend rinsing it thoroughly and drying it afterward to prevent any residue buildup.
All of our cremation jewelry comes with a lifetime warranty for the ashes setting. If the setting ever becomes dull, discolored, or damaged, you can send it back to us to be restored or redone. There is no fee for this service; we only ask that you cover the shipping costs.
Can I wear my cremation necklace every day?
Yes, absolutely! Our cremation jewelry is created to be worn as often as you’d like — whether that's every day, on special occasions, or anything in between.
That said, it is still fine jewelry, so a bit of mindful care will help preserve its beauty over time. We recommend removing your piece before activities that may involve physical impact or contact with chemicals, such as exercising, swimming, gardening, or cleaning. This helps protect both the metal and the ashes setting.

Will the color of the ashes setting match the one pictured?
Ashes are like fingerprints: entirely unique to your loved one. No color is added to the ashes during the setting process, so the finished jewelry will reflect their natural hue.
Can I send something other than or in addition to ashes, such as hair, breastmilk, or another sentimental material?
Yes! We are happy to accept a variety of other materials, including but not limited to: hair/fur, sand, soil, powdered breastmilk, dried flower petals, fabric, crushed gemstones, and more. Please reach out to discuss your unique memorial setting.

Beautiful pieces with caring customer service
Beautiful simple jewelry to make the meaning shine which is the loved ones we had lost. The entire process was very easy thanks to Gina who walks you through it and gide you along the way. It is not easy to send ashes of your loved ones across the US but Gina’s caring approach makes you feel like you are in good hands and more importantly your loved one’s ashes. If I could I would put 10stars from start to finish. Thank you
Beautiful
I got this necklace for my teenage sister after we lost our dad. It's so beautiful and she wears it every day. The quality is impeccable and I cried when I first received everything Gina put together in the mail. You can tell how much she cares about each person and piece that's ordered, and that alone brought me so much comfort. She's so responsive and is an absolute dream to work with, especially in such a dark time. Every other incredible review you read is accurate and was my experience as well. You will not regret buying a piece from closebyme.
Memorial necklace for my daughter
My daughter loved it!
Beautiful necklace in memory of my pup
I wanted to say Thank You Gina for the beautiful necklace and for taking such good care of Dominick's ashes. I love the piece that was made. It was exactly what I was looking for. It was especially important to me that my boys ashes would be natural and not have any added colors it was made perfectly. I always told my pup Dominick I would keep him close to my heart. I certainly will cherish this necklace always. You truly made this journey a good experience for me.
Absolutely Beautiful
I purchased this necklace, along with several other pieces of jewelry from Gina. This piece will go to my daughter, once she is older, in memory of her daddy. These pieces mean so much to me! They are exactly what we wanted and will forever be cherished. When I opened each jewelry box, it brought a great deal of tears to my eyes because of their beauty and the importance of each piece. Gina is very talented and her patience, kindness, and dedication for making these elegant pieces for others is greatly appreciated!
